After 30 years in the corporate world, I became a yoga teacher. I had practiced yoga consistently (4-5 days per week) for 6 years from age 50 when I decided that I would train to be a yoga teacher. I didn't know exactly what that meant, I just knew that I wanted to learn more about yoga and to share that knowledge with others.
Since qualifying in early 2019, I have been teaching as much as possible. I just love it. First, I taught alongside a full time role in market research -- the industry where I spent 30 years working within. Then at the end of 2019, I retired from the market research industry to dedicate myself to teaching yoga full time.
Teaching includes learning, as I learn so much each and every time I teach a group class or private session. I also learn when I practice in another teacher's class (online or offline), as each yoga teacher has a different background and style with which they teach.
I offer both online and offline group classes, as well as online and offline private sessions. For online, I use zoom so that I can view and feedback to each and every student as we progress through the session. I limit group class sessions to 10 so that I can maintain the small class feel online.
For offline, I have a home studio in Bramley Village which has vaulted ceilings, infrared heating, LED lighting, oak wood flooring, outdoor deck/stream/garden views, DoTerra essential oils, and all props including bolsters, pillows, blocks and straps. I have a max of 7 in each group class session, maintaining the small class feel. I also teach classes and workshops at various yoga studios throughout the Guildford area.
I am a Yoga Alliance Professionals Accredited Yoga Teacher & Member, and my qualifications include:
Certification of 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training, 3rd March 2019, Clarissa Ord - Course Director
Certification of 40 Hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training PAC, 30th of September 2018, Denise Marlow - Senior Yoga Teacher
Certification of 40 hours Yoga Nidra Teacher Training through Yoga Alliance, 7th of March 2021, Melanie Cooper and Jennie Wadsten - E-RYT 500 Teachers
I teach primarily general yoga classes which are Hatha based, also Hot Yoga, Yin Yoga, Yin + Yoga Nidra, and Hatha Flow.
